Truike Verdegaal is a Dutch jewelry designer and goldsmith. She trained at the Vakschool in Schoonhoven, the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. The necklace in the De Witte Zwaan collection is made of blackened sterling silver and consists of a simple chain with a fairly large tulip-shaped pendant. The flower is beautifully detailed and consists of several separate, very thin silver petals. Within the calyx is a blood coral rod representing the pistil or stamen, and a white sapphire represents a dewdrop. The tulip is signed on the outside by the artist.
