VISION

Since the 1980s, brothers Harry and Joop Zwetsloot, both associated with the flower bulb sector, have built up a coherent art collection around the theme of spring-flowering bulbs. They saw the great interest of tourists in the cultural history of the region, flowering bulb fields and the Keukenhof, and the importance of the flower bulb as a typical Dutch product.
With their collection they wanted to show how artists around the world have been inspired by these bulbous plants for centuries to create high-quality works of art.
The collection, now housed in Stichting De Witte Zwaan and having grown to over 90 objects, was given on long-term loan to Museum De Zwarte Tulp in Lisse in 2015 to allow a wider audience to enjoy the art collection. The Foundation continues to collect, new acquisitions are included in the museum.
