Ivora earthenware vase with iris decoration
Description
The factory in Gouda initially produced clay pipes. Following the success of Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland, owner Ivon van der Want founded the Ivora Pottery Factory in 1914 and began producing decorative pottery. After the Rozenburg Pottery in The Hague went bankrupt in 1914, several painters found work at Ivora Pottery Factory. Ivora's decorative pottery was generally simple in decoration and execution. The slender decorative vase in the De Witte Zwaan collection is decorated throughout with irises on a dark background.
