Loetz iridescent glass vase with gilded frame of tulips and tulip leaves
Description
The glass factory in Klostermühle was purchased in 1851 by Frank Gerstner and his wife Susanne, widow of Johann Loetz. After her husband's death in 1855, she took over management. The factory became known as "Johann Loetz Witwe." In 1879, the factory passed to her grandson, Maximilian von Spaun. He modernized the factory, introduced new techniques, and attracted renowned artists. Around 1900, the Loetz Witwe factory was one of the most prominent in the world. This Phänomen Genre vase is a perfect example of the high quality produced by the Loetz Witwe company around 1900. This vase has a honey-yellow base color with silver-yellow stripes arranged in irregular waves. The gilded bronze frame features tulips and leaves on spherical feet.
