Still life with white daffodils and apples
Description
The Hague-born impressionist Cor Noltee traveled extensively. He lived and worked in Paris, Rotterdam, and Bruges, and settled in Dordrecht in 1937. As a student at the Academy in The Hague, he was taught by Willem de Zwart, among others. He preferred painting landscapes, cityscapes, and riverscapes in a robust, confident style strongly reminiscent of Breitner. For this reason, he was sometimes called the "Dordrecht Breitner." The painting in the De Witte Zwaan Collection is a typical Noltee still life with flowers and fruit.
