Tile tableau on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the N.V. Hollands Bloembollenhuis

Description

The tile tableau was part of a tiled wall located in the former Hobaho auction building. The tableau was created by the Tichelaar pottery to commemorate the Hobaho's 10th anniversary and was donated by the staff. The tableau consists of several images, all surrounded by a decorative frame. The top image shows an auction hall filled with crates laden with bulbs. A view into the hall also reveals large numbers of crates containing bulbs. These were the auction goods, the driving force behind the Hobaho. The surrounding images feature bulb flowers, such as the well-known daffodils, a hyacinth, and tulips, as well as gladioli, crocuses, and irises. The main image is a bird's-eye view of the Hobaho's enormous halls and the harbor. In the background, several well-known Lisse buildings can be recognized, such as the Agatha Church on the far left and the Grote Kerk (Great Church) in the center. The dates of the foundation (1921) and the tenth anniversary (1931) are depicted on the bottom left and right. At the very bottom of the tableau is the commemorative plaque, flanked by the indispensable white swan.
