Tulip vase
Description
Josja Caecilia Schepman studied free design at the Utrecht Academy of Fine Arts. During her studies, she interned at the Oude Horn with Bernard Heesen. After graduating, she learned the craft of glassblowing from him; she now works as a freelance glassblower, working for the National Glass Museum in Leerdam and at Glasstudio Van Tetterode in Amsterdam, among others. She regularly travels to the Czech Republic to further explore the possibilities of glass. The tulip vase in the De Witte Zwaan Collection is inspired by the famous tulip pyramids of Delftware. Schepman simplified the shapes of the various components. The vase consists of four parts, loosely stacked on top of each other. A white glass version of this vase is in the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem.
